The breakfast was a real highlight, especially the bacon and sausage, cooked just right. The couple who run the place were lovely, and I thought the stay was great value. I’d gone to see friends who were camping, but they had to give up because the weather was the worst in years. I still had a thoroughly good stay, though, and would definitely use the place again if I’m back in the area. I booked the cheapest room, which was described as having a very small en-suite. It had a good shower, toilet and sink, and unless you’re extremely large, it’s absolutely fine.

We’ve just come back from a great family stay. The rooms were spotless, the staff friendly and attentive, and there was a really good choice at breakfast, which was delicious. We’ll be back for another stay, hopefully this year. Thanks for a wonderful time.

We arrived from Nottingham at midnight after getting lost because of our sat nav, and the hosts came out to the hotel to guide us. They were a lovely, friendly man and woman, and were helpful even with our very late check-in. We were there before doing a six-hour hike to Snowdon. The room was very clean, the shower facilities were decent, and breakfast was a good English one. The hosts made the stay even more enjoyable, and I thought it was well worth the price. I’d highly recommend the hotel and would definitely stay again. 10/10 from me. Thanks again to both hosts.

Breakfast was good, especially the granola with walnuts and pumpkin seeds. The rest of the stay was disappointing. I didn’t get a restful night because I could feel the springs through both single mattresses, even after putting a blanket over the fitted sheet. We also found a pair of black boxer shorts hanging behind the bathroom door and threw them away. When I raised the mattress issue while returning the key, the hostess focused on my friend Wayne booking for one guest instead of two. I accepted that he’d made a mistake, but the booking said twin/double room without specifying a guest count. She said she’d been put in a difficult position by the extra guest, and that the single beds were meant for children. I explained that the mattress still wasn’t fit for purpose, whether an adult or child slept on it, but she didn’t acknowledge its poor quality. She also said the room hadn’t been renovated like the others and blamed the last-minute change for accommodating the twin room. I didn’t feel heard, and wouldn’t want anyone else to have to sleep badly on either mattress. We’d booked for Friday 1 August to Saturday 2 August at Cadwgan House Hotel. On arrival, there was confusion because the booking was for one person in a twin/double en-suite room, and my friend had paid £75 initially. The hostess seemed flustered that there were two of us. She said a double room had been allocated, though I pointed out that we’d booked a double/twin room without specifying which. She sent someone upstairs and asked us to wait while she sorted it out. A little later, we were asked to pay another £40 and shown to a room at the top of the hotel. It seemed to be a family room with two single beds and one double bed, and my friend took the double.

The owner was incredibly helpful and understanding when train delays and cancellations meant I didn’t arrive until after 10pm. They went out of their way to help me. I loved the room, especially the four-poster bed, which let me live out a childhood dream, and the ensuite was huge. Breakfast was great too. I’d happily stay again and recommend the place to others.
