The restaurant menu had plenty of options at good prices, and the food was delicious. Everyone in our group enjoyed trying different dishes. In the morning, the full cooked breakfast was a real treat and set us up for the day. Service was first class, with a warm welcome from the staff. The bedroom was tastefully decorated, had adjustable lighting and lots of sockets in convenient places. Wi-Fi worked excellently throughout the hotel.

We had a brilliant birthday weekend, and the drive from Belfast took only 1 hour 45 minutes, which wasn’t too bad for a night away. I paid extra for the bridal suite and it was money well spent. I don’t know what the standard rooms are like, but this one had high ceilings, an enormous bed, a bath big enough for three and a huge walk-in shower. It was all comfort, with an electric fire and fireplace that made it feel romantic. The room also had a safe, hangers, coffee machine, kettle, iron, mini fridge and mini fan. I requested rose petals, chocolate-covered strawberries and Valdo prosecco for a few extra pounds, and the lovely staff had it ready before we arrived. My partner was blown away. One tip: turn off the radiators, because the rooms get very warm. The main downside was the TV signal. Only a few Freeview channels worked. These days it would be nice to have a newer TV with Netflix and YouTube for a documentary or music before bed. We didn’t need to leave the hotel for dinner. The downstairs restaurant was quiet, peaceful and welcoming, and our three-course meal was excellent. We both rated the homemade vegetable broth with soft roll and the soft-shell spicy chicken tacos with pickled vegetables 10/10. We both had the slow-cooked roast beef with sweet parsnip, carrot, colcannon and broccoli mash, red wine gravy and thick-cut chips for mains, a game changer, 10/10. The strawberry cheesecake was more like a strawberry cream sundae, so 7/10, while the sticky toffee pudding was 10/10. The cocktail menu was brilliant and had all our favourites, including French martinis and berry brambles. I’d also recommend the Wild One, with vodka and pineapple juice, which was new to me and very nice. Service was quick and efficient. One of the young lads seemed a little inexperienced, but everyone starts somewhere. The women at reception were lovely and happy to help. Breakfast was made to order rather than the usual buffet, and the big fry-up was very good. The homemade granola, fruit and yoghurt jars were the star, though, and had all gone by 10 o’clock. I’ll definitely come back, especially for the price, and highly recommend it. There are Chinese food, a chippy, McDonald’s, a garage and bars around the corner. Parking at the hotel is free. Check-in is at 3 pm and checkout at 11 am. There’s no entertainment in the hotel.

The food was delicious, the service was perfect and the atmosphere was lovely. It’s not too expensive, with options to choose from. I enjoyed it a lot and look forward to going back. It’s also within walking distance of town, so it’s easy to explore.

We had a really lovely stay in a beautiful hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, and even got me breakfast after I missed it by an hour. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

We’ve been coming to this hotel several times a year for 13 years, and we absolutely adore it. It’s a little gem, with fantastic staff who offer world-class hospitality and go above and beyond to help with whatever you need. The location works perfectly and is within walking distance of town, even for someone with mobility issues. The food is second to none and good value, with generous portions and plenty of choice on the menus. Sunday lunch is fantastic value, and breakfast is hard to beat. We wouldn’t dream of staying anywhere else, it feels like our home from home. Thanks so much, guys, for another warm and welcoming three-night stay. We can’t wait to see you all again soon 😊
