Sandown Park Lodge

The bed was awful, though I wasn’t surprised. Bugs got into my room because the window had been left open, and an alarm in the hallway started going off at 11 pm. It took 45 minutes for someone to come and switch it off, since nobody was staffing the front lobby. Choose somewhere else unless this place is dirt cheap.

The rooms are basic but fine, and the receptionists are really kind and helpful. I do wish they’d bring breakfast back, though. It was lovely, and I enjoyed chatting with the people who worked there.

There was nobody around, just a key box. The service was terrible, the rooms need updating, and don’t expect a decent shower.

The staff were friendly and very helpful, and there was plenty of parking. We’d stay again for the races because the hotel is right by the course, with plenty of restaurants nearby. Breakfast on race day was outstanding, though on other days it’s continental only. The hotel serves no other meals and is just B&B. The rooms were well fitted out, but thin curtains let the security light in until midnight, and the poorly fitting windows let in wind noise and traffic. It was okay, though definitely not the Ritz, more like a transport cafe, no disrespect. We booked because we were going to the races and it’s right on site. It’s also well placed for more than just the racecourse. Thanks, we had a lovely stay.
