Best Western Brook Hotel, Felixstowe

The staff working Sunday 24-Monday 25th May were top class and so helpful. Great stay, and the rooms were excellent. The doors are extremely heavy, though, and close back hard, so getting in with bags can be tricky. I’d definitely return. Thanks, Hotel Coco.

The steak was some of the best we’ve had, and the service was just as memorable. The manager checked in during the meal, while the (Head?) waitress and the rest of the staff were brilliant and never hurried us. We shared a cheese board after our mains, had two bottles of wine, then finished with a single malt and a cocktail. The restaurant had a lovely, comfortably busy feel from the moment we arrived. We’d happily recommend it and come back.

The bathroom toiletries were a lovely surprise, with high-quality soaps that smelled great. Everything else was just as good: our room was spotless, the hotel looked gorgeous, and the front desk team were so friendly and helpful. My husband and I spent two nights here and had a wonderful time. A real hidden gem.

We ate in the bar because the main restaurant shuts on Mondays. The staff were helpful, and the bar food was nicely presented, well cooked and tasty. Breakfast was a bit unusual for a classy hotel: there was no help-yourself buffet, so no fruit, yoghurt or pastries, just cereal and porridge followed by cooked food. My eggs Florentine were excellent, though they didn’t have boiled eggs even when I asked. The rooms have been updated, but the doors and thresholds let them down. The mix of styles feels odd and a bit kitschy. See the pictures.
