We stayed in a small room that was nicely furnished and quiet. The pub itself has that old fashioned country feel, with a lovely beer garden, helpful staff and good food. We had cider battered fish and chips, plus ham, egg and chips. The fish batter was light and tasty, and the ham, egg and chips portion was huge. I’m still full. I’ve had really good service, so I’m not sure why some reviews say otherwise. Maybe they were unlucky.

We had dinner in the bar at 6pm and found it really cozy. The food was fantastic, and the service was great too. Everyone was friendly. We’ll definitely come back when we’re in the area again.

We were driving through and stopped for a quick lunch without knowing what to expect. The food turned out really great, and we were glad we’d pulled in. The man behind the bar was friendly as well.

After a long walk we popped in for a cheeky pint, a pork pie and a bowl of chips. The place was beautifully decorated and really cosy, and everything hit the spot.

We only meant to have a quiet drink after our walk, but the woman behind the bar made us feel very unwelcome. She said we couldn’t use the window seat even though it wasn’t set up for food, and her tone made it seem like our custom didn’t matter. We left straight away and won’t be back. The White Lion, Bourton seems to think it’s something special, but it’s well above its station. There are plenty of friendlier pubs nearby where you feel appreciated.
