Holiday Inn Glasgow Airport

The breakfast was a highlight for me, with a good spread and especially tasty Haggis. The room was nice, the bed comfortable, and the carpet clean. There’s a bus stop very near the hotel that takes you into the heart of Glasgow, and the hotel is right next to Glasgow International airport. I stayed one night before my return flight, so the location was convenient. A couple of things could be better: the bedside lamps aren’t proper reading lights, which made reading difficult, and the shower head is fixed. There are plenty of facilities, including a snooker table and a big, colourful lounge area. I loved my stay.

The restaurant was bloody abysmal. I waited 20 minutes for drinks while my bland food went cold, and it’s very expensive. We’re regulars at the hotel and like the prime location, and the place is fine and clean. The staff are friendly too, and I’d still recommend staying here. But for food, we’ll get an uber to Spoons in Paisley town centre next time. You get faster service, better food and more choice there for a fraction of the price. If a Wetherspoons is better than your restaurant, something needs a serious rethink. I’ll never eat here again.

We had a comfortable stay as a large family, with adjoining rooms that worked perfectly for us. The rooms were in good shape, if a little dated in style. We were on the airport side, but the windows cut the noise really well, and we slept peacefully right by the runway. Breakfast had plenty of fresh, tasty cooked and continental choices, and the Kids Eat Free offer was a nice bonus. The adult price seemed reasonable for an all-you-can-eat meal. The communal areas, reception, bar and restaurant were clean, modern and spacious, with games, a pool table, comfortable seats and charging points. It felt well set up for families and people waiting for flights. Staff were pleasant and helpful throughout. The hotel was convenient, good value, and we’d happily stay again or recommend it to anyone flying from or arriving at Glasgow Airport.

The hotel itself was fine and the staff were friendly, but the car park charges were a sour start to the holiday. Drop-off is £7 for just 10 minutes at check-in, and you need a QR code from reception to leave the airport zone. The signs weren’t clear, and if you get into the wrong lane you miss the hotel. It cost £20 in parking charges just for the privilege of driving to the hotel.
