Daffodil Hotel & Spa

The scenery was inspiring, and there’s plenty to do nearby. We had a relaxing, memorable stay and thought it was great value. The hotel was beautifully clean and had a peaceful feel, with some of the friendliest staff we’ve come across. Nothing seemed too much trouble. We brought our fluffy Frenchie, and they made him feel just as welcome as us. It’s rare to find somewhere that’s genuinely dog-friendly and still feels luxurious. We can’t wait to come back.

We loved the hotel and would definitely come back. Strickland at the bar deserves a special mention. He was warm and engaging, and made us feel special whenever we visited. The room did get uncomfortable at times, though. There was no window to open, and the air conditioning struggled to cool it down.

The room’s colour scheme and the quirky art were my favourite parts, with lovely displays tucked into corners and corridors. We had a lovely two-night stay in this beautiful hotel. Moses, the reception manager, greeted us gently and politely. Our room was clean and spacious, with a really comfortable king-size bed, and the large bathroom had both a shower and a bath. The location was superb, right by Grasmere lake, with stunning lake and mountain views. A bus stop was just a few yards away, and the Wordsworth Museum is across the road. Walking paths were easy to reach too. Breakfast was lovely and the service efficient. Thank you to the team.

The spa was a nice place to visit after a day walking, and it was quiet enough for us. In busier months, though, I can imagine it feeling cramped. Quite a lot of mosaic tiles were missing from the underwater pool seating, leaving some sharp spots. We also had a 1am fire alarm with no explanation, and I found it odd that there was no apology at checkout. Aside from those issues, we had a very nice stay and found it convenient for seeing the lakes. Our room was large, with good facilities and a lovely water view. It was very quiet despite being beside the main road into grasmere. Check-in was quick, the reception staff were informative, and the restaurant team were helpful at dinner and breakfast.
