Stay away, this did not feel safe at all. In the morning a strange man used a key to walk into our room. When we asked what he was doing, he said he was just checking things. We complained to staff and were told he always does it! The room was dirty and smelled of poop mixed with Indian spices. The light broke after ten minutes. We barely slept because there was a party in the room above from 2am. All night, every five seconds, we heard a noise like suitcase wheels on brick pavement. It turned out to be a water pipe under our room, possibly with a boiler room nearby. On top of that, all three of us got bitten by bedbugs. Take my advice and stay away.
The room came with a fridge, microwave and kettle, and it was clean. The front desk guy was really nice and sorted out our booking mix-up. Great spot near one of the piers and the seafront. We did get a cold shower, but for the price I can't complain.
Our first room had no hot water. Staff came to try and fix it, but couldn't, so they moved us to a larger room where the hot water worked perfectly. Both rooms were clean, and the staff were quick to help. I'd stay again.
The rooms were okay, but we found bedbugs in the beds and had to leave two days early. We won't be back. The toilet door lock was broken, though they fixed it the next day. Half the lights had dead bulbs, and the exposed live wires on the lights were an eyesore. We had to fork out an extra £180 for somewhere else to stay.
I stayed at the St George Hotel in Great Yarmouth two days ago and had a really poor experience. There was no hot water in my room, even after I left the tap running for 15 minutes. At reception, the staff member told me, “If you have no hot water, nobody has hot water.” When I asked what I should do about a shower, he said, “Same as everybody else.” There was no apology, help or basic courtesy. Cold showers and rude dismissals shouldn't be part of a stay. Completely unacceptable, and I'd advise people to look elsewhere. When I turned back the bedding, I also found blood on the quilt cover. I've now moved to another place.
