The Boathouse

The location was lovely, the place was nicely presented and the service was okay. My sons enjoyed their meals: the vegan pasta was excellent, as were the Norfolk sausages and mash, which were nicely presented. My cod and chips were disappointing. The fish was bland white fish, and I don't think it was cod. I'd probably come again but skip the fish. Too many restaurants seem to pass off whitefish as cod or haddock.

One family stayed overnight and had a lovely, clean room. Breakfast the next morning was lovely too, and nothing was a problem. I'd highly recommend staying here as well as eating at the boathouse. There were 24 of us for New Year's Day lunch. Even with a busy restaurant, the staff were brilliant and helpful, and the food came out together and hot. Nothing was too much trouble.

We liked the meal so much that we've booked to come back Thursday evening. There was plenty of parking, the place was dog friendly, and the staff were very good. Nice choice of beers too, and my wife had a non-alcoholic Seville gin. For dinner, my son-in-law and I had lamb shanks, my daughter chose sea bass, and my wife had mussels. Lots of clean plates and happy faces. The desserts were great as well: two crumble and custard, one creme bruille and one boat house sundae. Highly recommend, but I'd book ahead.

Belinda guided us through every step of planning and kept everything on track. She helped make sure the day came together perfectly, and the whole team were thoughtful and attentive, with a real eye for detail. They looked after all our guests and accommodated every dietary requirement. The Boathouse was a perfect wedding setting, just the right size, with a stunning view over the lake. The food was delicious, and everything ran seamlessly. It really was the best day of our lives, thanks in large part to the team. We couldn't recommend them more highly! Lisa & Steve
