Smiths At Gretna Green

Phoebe and Gill made a big difference to the day. Phoebe went through the final details with us at check-in and kept us reassured, while Gill coordinated the ceremony just as calmly. The staff even offered to arrange our decorations and cakes in the function room, and our guests were amazed by the service. One couple told us it was the best hotel and service they'd ever experienced. We hadn't seen the Bridal Suite, Guest Rooms, or Function Room before the wedding. We'd first booked Gretna Hall as part of our wedding package, but unforeseen circumstances meant the booking was moved to Smiths. The Bridal Suite turned out to be enormous, with a huge bath, a double shower, room for the hair and make-up teams and photographers, and a large balcony overlooking the countryside. The function room was equivalent to the one we'd booked at Gretna Hall. Because of what happened with Gretna Hall, we've been invited back for our first anniversary and accepted. After how smoothly everyone helped our wedding go, it'll be hard not to find another reason to stay at Smiths Hotel.

Breakfast was amazing, and the location is great. We stayed in the Thistle suite, which was beautiful, luxurious, and immaculately clean. Debra and the rest of the staff were so attentive and did everything they could to make our stay perfect. Such a stunning hotel, we'd highly recommend it.

The bathroom was the one part of the room that fell a little short. Some cosmetic touch-ups and attention to the loose fixtures would make a real difference. The room itself was in good order and had what we needed. We stayed for two nights during our wedding. The staff were great and nothing felt like too much trouble. The Resturant and Bar area were up to a great standard, as were the food and drink selection. A special mention for “K” in the Restuarnt, he's polite, knowledgeable, and friendly, and a real credit to the place. We wish him every success in the future.

Our wedding host Amber kept us informed at every step, and the day was planned to perfection. We got married in the coach house at gretna hall hotel and stayed in the penthouse at smiths hotel. The photos afterwards didn't drag on, and the meal and after party were excellent. Everything was provided, from speakers to a private bar. There were a few of us, and everyone felt welcome and appreciated. Even the smaller rooms the others stayed in were prestige, though I'd recommend upgrading to the penthouse if you can. I haven't got a bad word to say, no room for improvement. 100% recommend!
