Premier Inn Grimsby

The food was excellent, and the staff were friendly, helpful and good-humoured. In the restaurant, one person had too many jobs to handle at once and was clearly run off her feet, but stayed calm and pleasant despite the pressure. The place could use some TLC inside and out. The bed was very comfortable as usual, but the carpet was stained and there were marks on the bathroom ceiling and walls.

The breakfast was not bad, and the other reception staff were helpful and good. But this morning, the woman at breakfast wouldn't let me sit down and repeatedly demanded a receipt to prove I had paid. I told her twice that breakfast was included with my room and that I hadn't paid separately. She didn't try checking with reception. Instead, she spoke loudly enough for everyone in the breakfast area to hear and made me feel as though I was lying. She didn't ask my name at all at first, and told me to go back to reception. I explained that my room had been changed after the original booking, which might have caused the mix-up. Only then did she ask my name and let me sit. By that point, she had nearly accused me of trying to get breakfast for free, in front of the whole room. It was embarrassing, unprofessional and unwelcoming. I travel a lot for work and often stay at Holiday Inn and Premier Inn, but I've never encountered staff with such poor manners. She needs more training to check things professionally and politely.

Room 102 was quiet, and the staff were prompt, polite and professional, especially in the restaurant. They set a shining example of service that a few other Premier Inns could learn from. The PI isn't in a great location, though.

We stayed at premier inn Grimsby for a gig at Yardbirds. Great location for it, and the staff were really helpful with booking us taxis. Big thanks to Drew for letting us check in a little early, it helped us make a full day and night out.
