Whitton lodge

A welcoming, child-friendly place that works well for larger groups, but the regular TV isn't a smart one. We were in room 3, I think, with the king-size bed above the kitchen. The mattress seemed to dip or bend in the middle and wasn't comfortable, and the cover on the hot water tap kept coming off.

Whitton Lodge was a lovely last-minute find when I needed a room for judging at Ashover Show. Kim, the owner, was such a fab lady, and I felt at home straight away. We even discovered we were kindred spirits 😁. The place was clean, tidy, welcoming and really spacious, with plenty of parking. I had a quiet, restful night and a refreshing shower, and the quiet-time rule is a great idea. I had to leave early, so Kim went out of her way to put together an on-the-go breakfast for me. Thanks, Kim!! Xx I won't hesitate to stay again next time I'm in the area.

The hot tub and pool table were big hits with our group of 26, and the clean house had plenty of room for us all to spend time together. Great stay at Whitton Lodge. We'll likely come back!

The kitchen layout made cooking and clearing up harder than it needed to be. There are two kitchens in adjoining rooms, and combining and redesigning them would make better use of the available space. Some rooms also got very cold overnight, even with the radiators turned all the way up, as they didn't give off much heat. Still, Whitton Lodge ticked a lot of boxes for our group of 19, including kids. The lounge was spacious, with plenty of seating and a pool table, and the dining room worked for us, though it would be cramped with many more than 20 people eating. The kids liked the gaming snug. We enjoyed the hot tub, and the location suited our group, who were spread out geographically. I'd recommend it for large groups, and we'll be back.
