The receptionist sorted out both problems, but they were needless hassles. Our keys wouldn’t open the doors and had to be recut, and the internet only allowed one device even though we’d paid for two. The upgraded room was tiny, though clean and fine for a single night. It’s in a quiet spot next to a KFC, with a decent-sized car park. The website says parking is limited and that you need to provide your car registration, but neither matched what we found.

The location is great, the rooms are nice and the staff are really friendly. Breakfast was the one weak point for me. If they improved it, the place would have everything.

I asked to move rooms on the first night because of the problems, but was told my reasons weren’t good enough. I tried again the next night and was told the hotel was full. The room smelled, the shower and hand soap dispensers were broken, and the damaged shower head wouldn’t stay in place. The toilet lid kept falling off, which staff said was intentional. I was on the ground floor with no netting, so anyone could see inside if I opened the curtains. When I asked about it, they said customers didn’t want netting. A terrible room and appalling service. Stay away.

We were heading to Scotland and stopped here for the night. The room had what we needed, including a decent Lavazza coffee machine, and we slept comfortably and quietly. We left refreshed and ready to carry on. We enjoy staying at Travelodge, and the staff here were helpful and attentive, especially when I accidentally locked us out of our room.
