Premier Inn Hastings

The room itself is always spotless, and I think the staff do the best they can with what they have. But after staying here for several weeks, four nights at a time and paying a premium, the little problems have started to matter. I've had a room with no heating, another with no TV sound, a shower head leaking from the back, and floorboards creaking in the room above. I had to change rooms a couple of times, mostly over small issues. The place could do with a refurbishment, and senior management needs to deal with the details that can make or break a stay. For that price, it's reasonable to expect things to be as good as, or better than, home.

The staff were lovely when I checked in, and there was plenty of parking even for a large vehicle like a pickup truck. With McDonald's and Sainsburys next door, there are extra food options too. My room at this Premier inn seemed to need renovation. The long bench/table was missing, which made it hard to get ready in the morning, and a broken light switch exposed live wires. I got back too late and was too tired to tell the staff, then there was nobody at the desk when I checked out.

The bed was comfortable, and the staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was not bad. You get what you see here, though the exterior looks a bit tired, the corridor layout is odd, and the signs from the car park to reception are hard to follow.

The room was absolutely huge, on the third floor, the largest we've ever had at a Premier Inn. Even so, there was barely anywhere to put clothes, so we had to live out of our suitcases. The recent refurbishment removed the usual work desk and reading lamp, leaving just a very small round table and a small chair. Please undo that refurbishment, dear Premier Inn. We want the advertised desk and somewhere to keep our clothes. The location was perfect for us, just off the A21 and next to a huge Sainsbury's. Hastings seafront was about a 10-minute drive away. The free guest car park always had spaces, and there's also an overflow area. Staff were friendly and helpful. Free Wi-Fi worked well for almost our whole stay, though it slowed down at peak times.
