After a brutal day of torrential rain on the Pennine Way, I arrived here completely soaked. The room was spacious and great, and the shower made me very happy. The place is showing its age, but it's still comfortable. It's a pity the pub doesn't really operate anymore.

A friendly pub that seems to be going from strength to strength. They serve a fantastic pint of Timothy Taylor's Landlord, along with other ales and lagers. John, the barman, is excellent and chatty. I'm local, so I don't know what the rooms are like.

A very good-value stop for the night. The hotel is unpretentious and a little quirky, and the owners were welcoming and chatty. The large rooms were clean and comfortable, and the stay exceeded my expectations.
