The other food looked good too, but the vegan pizzas Alison made were fantastic, easily the best pizzas in the Highlands. We ate them on our last two nights after having drinks here on four of the six nights we spent in Helmsdale. Both landlords were lovely, and Gerry kept us entertained with stories from his many years as landlord of this lovely local. Highly recommended.

For the price, it was okay, and our room was old but clean. We knew from the listing that the bathroom was across the hall, so we had to get dressed to go there. The host was cordial and showed us to the back of the Inn, where the stairs go up to the 2d floor. The walls are very thin, though, and we could hear other rooms and the highway right outside the window. That could be a problem if you’re a light sleeper. It’s a place to sleep.

We pulled in with our campervan for an overnight stop and were made to feel very welcome. The homemade food was good, and the food and drinks were all very good value. Take a walk down to the harbour and to the Times pan Centre for coffee by the river.

The rooms are spacious and really comfortable, and the pizza was the best. We felt very welcome, with lovely friendly staff and an owner who went above and beyond to help us during our stay, as our son was cycling lands end to John o groats. Parking was easy too, with plenty of spaces just across the road. Prices are good, and I’d definitely recommend the place.
