The seafood in the restaurant was incredible, and there were lovely bedroom views, great beer, and a cracking atmosphere. What really made this place stand out was how welcome we felt. It was the kindest, most hospitable welcome I’ve had down here. Maybe that’s no surprise, with the owner being a Kiwi and the barmaid greeting us with a drink on the house being a Geordie!

We’ve been coming to the Paris Hotel for food and drinks during our Coverack/Lizard holiday for five years, and I can’t wait to visit again next year. The pints of rattler cider go down very quickly, whether it’s the fantastic view, superb food, or excellent service that does it. The beer battered cod and chips are a must. The batter is light, not thick and oily, the cod is scrumptious, and the chips are a 127/10, brown and crisp outside, fluffy and delicious inside. Peas and homemade tartar sauce go perfectly with them. We’re hoping to try the hotel rooms for a night next time. We haven’t stayed before, so I can’t rate the rooms, but if the food and drink are anything to go by, we’re in for a winner.

The idyllic location and lovely view from our small room window were highlights, and breakfast was more than ample. Unfortunately, that’s where the praise ends for me. Mrs. A and I booked two single beds because we’re used to Canadian queen or king beds, rather than the somewhat standard UK double. A little door led us up a worn carpet staircase to a room so narrow that the beds faced each other. The TV was on a small wardrobe perpendicular to the bed, so to watch it, you had to sit sideways at the foot of your bed. There appeared to be black mould on the window, and paint was peeling from the ceiling, possibly from an old leak. The toilet’s push-flush button was faulty, and the shower door didn’t close properly. The other rooms may be nicer, but in my opinion the property is old and needs a major update. I fear it may, like many properties, have fallen on hard times due to "C". I know many people, like us, rely on reviews on Google, Trip Advisor, and other sites. I always try to be positive, but unfortunately I can’t here. We left shortly before 9.00am, and with no staff available, had to use the side fire escape with all our belongings.

Kelly was so accommodating, full of local knowledge, and good for a laugh. She couldn’t do enough for us, our baby, and our dog. With such kind staff in a stunning location, we’d have a drink here every day if we could!

They catered well for my coeliac disease, and the service was great when I went for a meal with friends. I’d definitely go again if I’m back in the area.
