I came home after an epic roast and the best cocktail I’ve ever had, and I’ve tried plenty! I can’t remember its exact name, but it was basically a spicy marg. The lovely barman explained how they make it, and then the amazing taste made sense. I could drink those for days. It was next level, especially since local cocktails are usually some premixed rubbish and I rarely order them. Can’t wait to go back, try the regular menu and work my way through the cocktails.

The new owners have done a great job. We had an excellent family lunch on Sunday 14th December, with welcoming service, great quality and good value. I’ve been visiting the Stoke Row area for around 15 years, and this was the best lunch or dinner we’ve had there. Thanks!

The fish pie special was generous, properly chunky and lovely, and the treacle tarts were a great finish. The four of us had a brilliant evening at the Cherry Tree, our first visit since the change in management. Even with the storm outside, we got a warm welcome. The staff were friendly and knew their stuff, and the manager was attentive and engaging. We’ll be back.

The new owner Toby and his team were so helpful with both me and my dog, who was very well looked after. With every room on the ground floor and its own direct way outside, it’s a really handy place to stay with a dog. I was delighted to be the first guest after the reopening. The rooms are beautifully decorated, finished to a high standard and have lovely amenities; the beds are very comfortable too. Breakfast arrived in a lovely wicker basket by the door, and was delicious, as was the dinner of sharing plates the night before. Congratulations to The Cherry Tree! 10/10 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

We had Sunday lunch at 3 pm, and the roast beef itself was really good. The vegetables seemed to have been sitting around for a while, though, and the parsnips were hard to cut. None of the six of us fancied anything from the already limited Sunday starter menu, so we each ordered only a main. I thought £28 plus a 15% service charge, £32.20 per meal, was hard to believe when three courses weren’t much more. All in all, below average.
