The venue and atmosphere were lovely, and everyone had a fantastic day celebrating our dad's 90th birthday. Jill and her wonderful staff made the occasion special. Jill is a warm, welcoming hostess who never makes anything feel like too much trouble. Her curry was a huge hit. Two relatives even said it reminded them of my late uncle's famous curry, which is the biggest compliment our family could give. Thank you, Jill, for helping us make such precious memories. The room was nice and had lots of windows and natural light, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom could use some TLC. It's well placed for walking to both the city centre and the fruit market. There were major roadworks nearby, with a night crew working through the night. The noise was extremely loud and carried on all night, then the loudest construction started again at 7am on both mornings. I understand the hotel couldn't control that, but I should have been warned beforehand or given a discount. I mentioned it to a staff member at checkout because the owner wasn't there.

A wonderful bunch of Brisbane Bronco fans and I had a lovely three days in Hull, putting the result out of mind. We all had a great time at Jill's pub near the Holiday Inn hotel. The beer was good, the food was lovely, and we made some really happy memories there. Thanks, Jill!

The room was the jewel of our stay, far more stylish than we expected. It had high ceilings with deep ornate coving, deep red curtains and bedcovers, and a spotless, newly tiled bath and shower room. We spent one night at this very old pub, just as a local pub should be. There was a good range of beers and home-cooked food, with generous portions of my Chicken & Veg pie and my partner's Lasagne. The land lady and her staff were pleasant and helpful. Whittington and Cat is ideally placed for a visit to Hull. The city centre is only minutes away on foot, with shops, museums, the marina and the old town's cobbled Streets nearby. We also enjoyed the weekend nightlife and the music bars. The railway station and Conexin arena are just a few minutes' walk away too. There's loads to see and do. We highly recommend staying at the Whittington and Cat.

The room was lovely and quiet, even with a busy road nearby, and the staff were brilliant. The steak pie from the menu is to die for. The only downside was the roadworks right outside, though they're due to finish in the next few months.
