Wellesley Hotel

The location made getting around easy, with transport, places to eat, and nearby attractions all within reach. I also found the rooms clean, roomy, and well looked after, which made it easy to relax. The staff were consistently warm and attentive, and went out of their way to help. I had a great stay at Wellesley Hotel and would happily return or recommend it.

The managers are so friendly and polite, and they make sure you’ve got what you need. Great place to stay. I’ll look at booking here again next time I’m nearby.

The staff member was lovely and made me feel welcome, sharing plenty of tips. They also brought up two working fans, which I was glad to have in the heatwave. But the smell was so bad that sleeping in the bathroom seemed like the only bearable option. The bathroom electrical socket was badly charred, with duct tape around its edges, and the bedside cabinet was damaged. After a hot day, I didn’t even want to try the shower. Check-in was quick and everything seemed fine at first. Then, when I came back for the night and pulled back the sheets, I found two moths and a dead spider. I left and stayed somewhere else.

The person who seemed to be the attendant or owner was cheerful and pleasant, and that was the one good part of my visit. The property itself was a different story. There was an unpleasant smell throughout the building, possibly sewage related, and it stayed during my visit. The online photos look significantly out of date and don’t show its current condition. The room wasn’t clean. The microwave and refrigerator were visibly dirty, and the bathroom was particularly concerning. Despite the staff member’s good attitude, I can’t recommend the hotel given the state of the property.
