The gardens were stunning, and we appreciated the brochures about local places to visit since we hadn’t been to this part of the world before. We stayed three nights and didn’t want to leave. Laston House is beautifully run, and Abi and Greg were warm, professional hosts who really cared about guests’ needs. We arrived very late for a wedding because of bad weather, but Abi had arranged access in advance and was understanding. Our huge room was gorgeous, warm and comfortable, with tasteful decor, elegant furniture and lovely period features that made great use of the house. The bed was enormous and so comfortable, with light coming through the original sash windows, while heavy curtains blocked it out when we wanted darkness. The bedding was beautiful, and the modern bathroom had lovely towels, a great shower, perfectly tempered water and locally made soap. We also got a warm welcome at breakfast, with excellent vegetarian choices and something for everyone. Laston House, and the cottages or whole-house self-catering option, look like a real treat. I highly recommend it for couples or families visiting this lovely part of Devon.

We’d love to stay here again. It’s peaceful and well located for getting into town, with good parking and Wi-Fi. The accommodation was spacious, clean and well equipped. Such a nice touch to find tea, coffee, milk, sugar and lovely scones with jam and clotted cream waiting for us.

Brookhouse was small but adequate. The kitchen was ok and the shower was fine, though the bowl was very small. It’s close to the main road, so there was quite a bit of noise. The location was great, with the Thatched inn two minutes away, the harbour about five minutes away, plenty of places to eat and nice views.

We had a fantastic two-night stay in this lovely house. It’s great value, with relaxed and friendly service and a superb breakfast. The harbour is only about a 10-minute walk away. A real gem, highly recommended.

The room we had, number 3, was a good size, clean and comfortable, with a lovely view from the window. Breakfast was freshly cooked and very tasty. There’s parking on the property, though we couldn’t get the Wi-Fi upstairs. It’s an impressive building set along a private drive, about a 15-minute walk downhill to the harbour. That route wouldn’t suit anyone with mobility problems. We had a comfortable stay.
