Ilkley Riverside Hotel

The river runs right beside the hotel, which makes it lovely for a stroll. We’ve stayed at Riverside Hotel a few times while visiting family in the area, and it always feels attractive and welcoming, with a homely atmosphere as soon as you walk in. The staff are wonderful and happy to help with most of what you need. The food arrives hot, fresh, and nicely presented, and is mostly, if not all, home grown locally. Drinks are poured as requested. We’d definitely recommend the hotel and area to anyone looking for a friendly place to visit.

The food was great and nicely presented, and I was surprised the dining room wasn’t busier. Maybe the cold weather kept people indoors. The bar welcomes dogs, and they were friendly too. We stayed just one night and were made welcome. One thing to know is that the hotel isn’t wheelchair accessible: there’s no lift, and the dining area is up a couple of steps. You could eat in the bar area if needed.

The river Wharfe has exceptional outdoor dining, and the restaurant itself is pleasant. The English food was good value with pensioner discounts, and the fish and chips are renowned. Breakfast was excellent, beautifully cooked and presented. I was on the Dales Way in five minutes and in town in ten. There’s a lovely stretch of walking to Adddingham and lots of interesting independent shops. It feels in town but away from it all. This was my second stay at the Ilkley Riverside Hotel, in a different room that was clean, had all the facilities, and a nice outlook. Staff were helpful and friendly both times, offering to carry my suitcase upstairs. One even moved her car so I could park. Parking in Ilkley is difficult, so the hotel’s free parking is a real plus. I’ll be back.

We enjoyed our stay and would come back. The staff were pleasant, the homemade breakfast and dinner were good, and the hotel is ideally placed for Ilkley town centre.
