We had a superb meal in a lovely atmosphere, with really good produce and excellent value. The Saturday night steak deal is well worth it, and I can thoroughly recommend the Heifer Pie. Nothing to fault.

My daughter and I went for Sunday lunch, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed a good pint of Hetton ale. The roast beef was excellent, with a giant Yorkshire pudding, well-cooked vegetables and generous portions. There were so many puddings to choose from. I had the chocolate orange cheesecake, while my daughter chose the Smores dessert. Both were delicious, and her portion was big enough that she took half home for later. The waitress was very happy to sort out a box. Thank you, we’ll definitely be back!

We booked a bar table to watch the football, and there was a small mix-up when we arrived. The staff fixed it straight away and were really helpful. There were plenty of appealing options on the menu, and we were very happy with the food quality and portion sizes. Everyone was friendly and fantastic. Great food and atmosphere, would recommend it to anyone. Thanks 😊

The team were welcoming, attentive and went out of their way to help. I’d recommend the place, and the people made a huge difference. We spent two nights in the De Havilland room, which was excellent: a large bed, cosy warmth, a bath and a separate shower. Breakfast was hit and miss. On the first morning there was no brown bread; the black pudding was so hard you could hammer nails with it, and the bacon shattered when I tried to cut it. I asked for soft fried eggs and mushrooms, with no hash browns, but got the opposite. The second morning was really good, so 🤷♂️.

The Craven Heifer is a great base, about a mile from the Yorkshire Dales National Park and close to the River Wharfe. Friendly service, comfortable beds, very good breakfasts and plenty of drinks to choose from all made our stay enjoyable.
