Crown Court Hotel

It's a quiet hotel in a handy spot, around a 10-15min walk from the main part of town. I stayed just one night at the Crown Court Hotel and Bar and thought it was a great find in Inverness. The room was spacious and clean, and the staff were friendly. Good value, and a useful base for Culloden Battlefield, Loch Ness and downtown Inverness.

The refund finally came through 9 days after my stay, but nobody called or contacted me. I thought management would at least make a courtesy call, but there was only silence. Before that, I'd been charged twice and had no refund. I spoke to three different staff members on three consecutive days; each said the manager wasn't in and they'd pass on my details. Seven full days after the stay there was still no refund or communication. I paid £140 for one night with no food or restaurant service, doors locked at 21:45 and no night staff at all. That's disgusting service. Why have a bar and dining room? One person was on duty when I arrived, and to be fair they were pleasant; nobody was working in the morning when I left. This felt more like a posh youth hostel than a hotel. If I lived nearby, I'd be at the building until I got my money back.

The woman who greeted us was incredibly helpful, and her name might have been Layla? She was great. We had a spacious room with a mini fridge and parking was available on site. Restaurants and shops were an easy walk away, and the stay was generally quiet. The bathroom water pressure was sporadic. We were only there for a night but would gladly have stayed longer.

We were unlucky with the timing: the boiler was broken, so the showers stayed freezing cold for our whole visit. We were also told by an employee that our luggage could go in storage lockers the next day, but it was actually left in the breakfast/bar area. The room was lovely, with a good tub, large clean bed, sitting area and little fridge. The windows opened for a cool breeze. It's a bit far from things, though the 20 minute walk into town didn't bother us.
