Best Western Claydon Hotel

The food here is incredible, with a menu that changes daily and a bar snack menu available every day. There’s plenty of choice, which I really appreciated during a long stay, and the prices feel fair for what you get. I’ve taken photos of lots of the meals and shared them on social media. My rooms have been comfortable, a good size, recently refurbished and equipped with the usual things, with a comfortable bed and little noise from inside or outside. The dining room is spacious, with a country house feel, and the foyer and bar have also recently been refurbished. It’s a clean hotel with a decent-sized car park, and I’ve never had trouble finding a space, even when it’s busy with guests and functions. Claydon’s main road is nearby, and the A14 is only a couple of minutes away. Ipswich, Stowmarket and Colchester are all within reasonable reach. The setting is quiet despite the roads, though you can occasionally hear traffic. I’ve stayed here several times when work booked me in, including for a couple of months with a group booking, and I’m always pleased when it comes up on the booking. Staff greet me with a smile every time. I’ve seen the same faces over the past few years, which says something good about how the company treats them. They seem to value each other, and that comes through in how they interact with guests too. I can’t thank everyone enough for making the last few months comfortable and enjoyable. I’m looking forward to coming back.

Breakfast was fantastic, with plenty of extras and no skimping. The staff were friendly the whole time, from arrival to departure. My room was spotless and had what I needed for a short visit, though the en-suite felt a bit cramped. If you need somewhere near Ipswich, this works really well.

The staff were all very friendly, and the room was small but clean. The fish and chips were really good, but the burger meal was a letdown because the burger came undercooked. They dealt with that quickly and made another one, but it was still poor quality and didn’t feel worth £18. In short, I wouldn’t stay here again.

We keep choosing this hotel whenever we're in the area because it’s reliably good. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff are helpful and friendly, and breakfast is excellent.
