Breakfast was lovely, and my room at Portree Hotel was spotless. The hotel is right in central Portree, and I couldn't fault my stay. One small suggestion: the second-floor stairwell could use a fresh coat of paint, since all the guest traffic is bound to leave marks. It didn't affect my stay, though. I'd recommend the hotel to anyone.

My stay at the hotel was fine, with nothing wrong during the visit. The restaurant staff could use some improvement in both their skills and hospitality, though. After I finished dinner, a waitress brought me the bill without me asking, before I'd even been allowed to finish my drink. I got the message. I won't spend another penny there.

We only managed one night because there wasn't availability for longer, though we wanted to stay. The three-person room had plenty of space for us and all our luggage, and the huge bathroom had both a bath and shower. Breakfast was included, delicious, and filling. This was our favorite stay during our ten days in the UK. The hotel keeps the charm of an older building while offering some modern updates. I'd highly recommend it if you get the chance.

We can't comment on the rooms, since we continued to Kyle that afternoon. We stopped at Portree while travelling from Mallaig to Kyle of Lochalsh by rail, using Skye's buses to connect the journey. The bus station is right outside the hotel. The staff were friendly and let us leave our cases while we walked around town. We booked lunch there, a nice light soup and sandwich, with a well-kept beer. Good value, and the service was friendly and professional.

We booked dinner when we checked in, but forgot to reserve for the following evening and then had a real struggle getting a table. You really do need to book ahead. Breakfast also needs a chosen time slot because it gets busy and staff are limited, though there was a good range of choices. The rooms are well cared for and feel warm and cozy. We had a lovely stay and will remember it fondly.
