Ednam House Hotel

The outside seating area was peaceful, with a gorgeous view, and the architecture and decor made the whole place feel calm. It's a little vintage in style, but very well maintained and spotlessly clean. Everyone we met was kind, helpful and friendly. Katie gave us a warm, attentive welcome at reception. We had a great stay, and I'd happily recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere lovely. I expect I'll come back myself.

Kelso is a lovely place, and the people are so friendly. The hotel's location is what really makes it, and there's a great view from the breakfast room too. Breakfast was superb. The rooms are a bit dated and basic, old fashioned, but comfortable.

Our room was spacious and clean, and the included evening meal was decent value. The location is handy for getting into town, and there's an electric car charger on site. Getting around the hotel with a baby or buggy was difficult. There are lots of stairs and no lifts, including to the restaurant and bar. The place feels very old fashioned and needs a major overhaul. With no music or atmosphere, things felt awkward at times. Breakfast was poor. We asked for scrambled eggs and toast, but were told to get the toast ourselves, so only eggs came on the plate. There wasn't much fruit or choice of other continental food. Service at the bar was lacking too, as we kept having to ring the bell or look for someone. I don't think we'd return.

Modern touches and historic character are blended together ingeniously in this extraordinarily beautiful hotel. The staff were friendly, the food was high quality, and spending time here was an unforgettable experience. I truly recommend it to everybody.
