Begelly Arms Hotel

We came in for Sunday lunch and loved it. The Yorkshire puddings were the best we’ve had, the meat was delicious, and the vegetables were cooked just right. Every part of the meal had loads of flavour, and the portions were generous. We didn’t stay at the hotel, though the location looked lovely. We’ll come back for lunch on our next holiday.

Our food took nearly an hour, several items were wrong, and half of it arrived cold. The waitresses were sour-faced and rude from the start. After I complained, they stood behind the bar pointing and talking, and the manager was rude too. Disgusting attitude from the staff after we raised the cold food and mistakes. I wouldn’t waste your money.

The room was warm, cosy and spotless, and we appreciated the tea, coffee and biscuits. We stayed overnight after a Christmas dinner party, where the food was amazing and reasonably priced. The staff joined in with our jokes and were wonderful. We had a lovely evening and night, and I can’t speak highly enough of the weekend.

The meal was lovely, with no complaints about the food. I would have stayed for dessert, but a staff member’s child was coughing loudly and forcefully, wandering around the restaurant and even going into the kitchen. I could still hear her coughing there, and she never covered her mouth. No one told her to stop coughing or walking around. It’s a pity, because it could have been a nice evening.
