Andel Lodge

The room is spotless and a bit like a motel, which I like. It's quiet and feels personal. So far, so good. I haven't tried the food yet, so I'll comment after tomorrow.

The Andel could be a standout place in King’s Lynn. The venue has plenty of space, a decent layout and a welcoming feel, and on a good night the atmosphere can be electric with the right crowd. It's a local option for drinks and dancing without having to travel to a bigger city. The staff are a real strength: friendly, attentive and ready to help with drinks, finding a table or a chat. They keep things running smoothly even when it's busy. The main problem is the resident DJ. The music misses the mark too often, with choppy transitions, tracks that feel out of touch with the crowd and energy that doesn't land. People leaving the dancefloor or groaning at another jarring change of genre says a lot. Andel needs a DJ, but rotating in different people or using non-resident DJs could bring fresh energy, suit more tastes and attract new crowds each weekend. There's a lot going for the venue, including good staff and solid service, but the entertainment needs a serious rethink, starting at the DJ booth. Bring in fresh talent and it could turn a three-star night into a five-star experience.

Our first visit to King’s Lynn in 25 years was for a friend's funeral, and we stayed at the Andel Guest House for two nights. The staff were so friendly and welcoming that we felt at home. Our quaint, homely room had a lovely quilt and a really comfortable bed, so we slept very well. The location was peaceful and quiet just outside town, and we appreciated the well-stocked bar. Breakfast was first-class and well worth the price, especially the delicious Full English. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly return. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
