The Royal Forester Country Inn

We were only passing through and needed somewhere to eat, but arrived at 3pm, which wasn’t a great time for a meal. They had cold sandwiches, and were happy to switch the cooker on if we wanted to wait. We were on our way somewhere, so just ordered a latte instead. It came with a lovely brownie, a nice surprise, and both were really tasty. The staff were polite and friendly, and the pub had a quiet, cosy feel with a fire burning and lots of room to sit. There’s a bar, a restaurant, and sofas by the fire, though we didn’t have time to settle in. There’s plenty of parking at the back, plus covered outdoor seating. Looks like a nice spot for an evening too. I’d happily go back and recommend it.

The gravy was delicious, and the roast potatoes were to die for. I had the half roast chicken for Sunday lunch, cooked perfectly, and wasn’t disappointed on my first visit in ages. My only gripe was the board it came on. Pouring gravy over the chicken made it go everywhere, so a plate would be easier. I’ll be back.

There’s a busy bar, dogs curled up around the fire, and a restaurant serving great food. We had a pleasant room too. The wine list was very good and clear. A great pub with rooms.

I absolutely love this place. The staff are so friendly, the food is fantastic, and the rooms are lovely if you want to stay over. I’d recommend it to anyone. A big thank you to izzy, carla, and all the staff.
