Karen was on duty and so lovely, really attentive too. After a good night's sleep in a clean, tidy, spacious and comfortable room, we had tea and toast before heading to the ferry in the morning. The kitchen had already closed when we arrived, but reception pointed us to Mayur across the road and we had a lovely Indian meal there. We’d planned to sleep in our campervan at the port before the morning ferry, then made an unplanned Friday night stop here instead. So glad we did. What a gem, I’d highly recommend it.

We’ve eaten at the Curran Court many times and used to recommend it, but after today’s meal we won’t be doing that anymore. My husband’s gammon was tough and dry, and my cod smelled quite fishy when it arrived, though it tasted nice. We both ended up with heartburn afterwards, which made the meal a disappointment. The hotel took my husband’s meal off the bill, but we weren’t after a free meal, just hoping to enjoy a good one at the end of a nice day out.

The decor gave the place a lovely, welcoming feel. We had a very nice menu to choose from, and the food was tasty, with clearly high quality ingredients. The service was friendly and warm, while still attentive and professional. A lovely meal this evening.

The autumn deal was £145 per room for two people. It covered an overnight stay, a three course dinner, a bottle of wine for the table, and both a full cooked breakfast and a choice of continental breakfast. It was a great offer, and our family had a fantastic, welcoming overnight stay.

The waiting staff were so helpful and their service was amazing, which makes the rest of the experience all the more disappointing. I had Salt & Chilli Chicken to start and Roast Turkey & Ham for my Christmas dinner at The Curran Court a few days ago. The mash smelled unpleasant, the vegetables were hard, and the food was poor overall, especially for the prices. I felt extremely unwell before leaving and came down with what seemed like food poisoning the next morning. Others in my group were unwell too, which left me concerned about the food and its preparation. I wouldn’t return or recommend the place.
