The hotel is quite a way out of town, so bring whatever you need rather than expecting to pop into town. That distance is actually part of its charm. We came for a school reunion Christmas party and had a five star experience at this four star hotel. The location and facilities were great, the party food was high quality, and the bedrooms were comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly, helpful, professional and accommodating. I have no complaints at all, and plan to come back for a long weekend.

I came for a conference and really liked the venue. The food was delicious, and my room was comfortable and well equipped. There could be more wine choices at the bar, though I enjoyed the Sauvignon blanc I picked. Having some quiet time away from the TV with a glass on Friday night was just what I needed.

To Ollie & the Team at Woodland Grange Hotel, Thanks for a lovely breakfast this morning. The food was good quality, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere made it a perfect start to the day.

I went to Chesford Grange Hotel nearby instead, where they were happy for us to have a drink and lunch while meeting. At this hotel, I’d arranged an impromptu meeting with a colleague and was told we couldn’t do it because of security measures. I’ve never had a hotel willing to spend money tell me we couldn’t come in for security reasons. Honestly, I’d never recommend this place to anyone.

For a short stay, I’d recommend it, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. Go to Paprika Club for great food, and steer clear of Ayla Lounge. The hotel itself had some rough edges. The lamps didn’t match, and the corridor carpets needed cleaning or replacing. If your room faces the road, you’ll hear traffic, especially if you like to sleep with fresh air coming in. When booking, I saw standard and king options and expected the king to mean a king size bed, but it was a standard double. Maybe it depends who you book through. I asked about it and they did their best to find us a larger room, but the rooms were much the same and the beds were all doubles or two singles. At 6'2, I also banged my head against the fixed shower head 🤣.
