The grounds and buildings are stunning, and the place has that lovely luxury retreat feel. We’ve enjoyed coming for special events before, from cinema nights to balloon dining, which we’ve done several times, and this year’s ice skating. The spa is wonderful too, and I’d still recommend staying here. Our latest visit was frustrating, though. After ordering, we were told that the starter wasn’t available from an already limited menu. Then we waited over 45 minutes for food, including about 20 minutes for the main. My wife had ordered a pie with a pastry top but was served a shepherd’s pie. When we asked to check the menu in case we’d got it wrong, staff made us feel like idiots. It turned out the evening menu had a vegetarian shepherd’s pie, but the one on ours was meant to have pastry. They took it back, and we waited another 20 minutes. By then we had to eat quickly so we could skate while there was still daylight. My wife rushed hers, and I only ate half of mine. We missed the sunset. We’ll try not to let this spoil a place we always look forward to visiting, and I hope we’ll be back for another year of balloon dining.

The Christmas decorations and ice rink made the stay feel really festive, and it’s dog friendly as well. Staff seemed to love their jobs and were amazing, with great attention to detail. We had the best stay, it really felt perfect.

The kids had plenty to do, including the treehouse playground and daily movies, and we loved the indoor pool and spa. The grounds are beautiful, the hotel is immaculate, and the staff looked after us so well. A wonderful stay, can’t wait to come back!

We had lunch at the Garden House for my Mum’s 80th birthday, and the staff went out of their way to make it special. They were so friendly, the food was delicious, and the cocktails were top notch. We also got a guided tour around the house from a charming, knowledgeable girl. Wonderful.

I’m not much of a nitpicker, but I do notice cracks and cobwebs, and I couldn’t find either at Beaverbrook. The buildings are exquisite, and the staff were helpful and completely charming. I’m glad this kind of service still exists. As far as I could tell, the place was utterly flawless. One of the best hotel experiences of my life, 10/10, and I’ll absolutely be back.
