Abbey Hotel

I’ve moved away from Leicester, so it’s great to have a clean, comfy place to stay when I come back to see friends. The room had hot showers, a few towels, tea and coffee on the table, and a TV. For the price per night, I really can’t fault it. What more do you need?

Hanna was a lovely, friendly receptionist and very helpful. The room was comfortable, clean, and nicely decorated, and the location worked really well, close to shops, a park, and the city centre. My five year old and I stayed for two nights and both loved it. Great price too. Five stars from us 🤎

Abbey Park is right across from the hotel and is one of the most beautiful parks to enjoy. There’s also an affiliated Indian restaurant where you can get a quick bite or a cup of tea. I didn’t try it, but it looked good. My room was plain but clean, as was the bathroom, and there was a kettle with tea and coffee. A bottle of water would’ve been nice on a warm day. I was there in summer and appreciated having a fan in the room, since plenty of places don’t have air conditioning. Staff member Hana was a sweetheart and helped arrange luggage storage while I explored, though space is tight. The front desk isn’t staffed all the time, so early or late check-in can be an issue, as I found out. Parking is limited, so check ahead. The hotel is good value. Without bags, the walk into town takes about 15-20 minutes. With heavy luggage, though, the walk from the station felt much longer than I expected from somewhere described as central. I passed through a rougher part of town and wouldn’t have felt safe walking there at night. It’s by a main road and large malls, so there can be noise and the area doesn’t look especially nice.

The room was clean and nice, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We were close to everything, which was perfect. There was a damp, mouldy smell in the corridors and a little of it in our room too. Apart from that, it was nice.
