Croft Hotel

If you want a hostel, this is the place to go. It feels like a dumping ground for the homeless. The staff are very rude, and when you complain, they don’t want to listen and threaten to kick you out. Avoid at all costs. No stars!

The rooms were clean and nice, the staff very helpful, and the location was good.

I booked mostly because of the price, despite the mixed reviews. Two nights, Monday and Tuesday, cost £108 on hotels.com. The car park is small and uses ANPR, so enter your registration at reception. They didn’t take a key deposit, as stated, and asked for proof of ID on arrival. I was in room 26, up two flights of stairs. The bathroom had been refurbished, and the room was clean with the beds made each day. There was a hairdryer, heater, and kettle, but no TV remote and I wasn’t given the WiFi password. The decor is old. The bed was cheap but comfortable. For a limited budget, it’s OK for the price.

The location is decent, near the main road and an easy walk to the university of Leicester. The staff were polite and efficient, but the place was extremely dirty and my room was in poor condition. There was a visible hole in the bathroom floor beneath the toilet, and black mold on most of the walls. A lot of the other guests seemed to be homeless or addicts, and there was shouting and disturbance through the night. At a similar price, I wouldn’t recommend staying here over somewhere else.
