The Dolphin Inn

That quiet atmosphere really made the stay for us: no loud music, just guests chatting softly and a fire crackling. We also enjoyed the art and history books around the rooms and hotel, and they helped us get to know the area. Everyone was friendly and happy to answer all our questions. After a long journey, the little piece of cake waiting in our beautifully decorated, cosy room was just right. We appreciated the eco shampoos too. Dinner was delicious and beautifully presented, with thoughtful touches that made it memorable. It was one of the nicest meals we’ve had out, and the service was excellent. You could tell the staff enjoyed their work. In the morning I ran about 1.5 miles to The sculpture on the beach. The path was great and the sunset was beautiful. I came back to a lovely breakfast, which was perfect. We were so pleased with our stay that we’ll definitely book again. I can’t recommend the hotel enough, and look forward to coming back.

We’ve just had our third visit to The Dolphin and enjoyed it as much as ever. The food is delicious and excellent quality, and the bedrooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean. The staff are welcoming and friendly. If you’re interested in Thorpeness history, the quirky photos on the bar walls are worth a look.

The quiet, relaxing atmosphere was especially welcome after a long day. I spent two nights at the Dolphin Inn, where my room was cosy and well maintained. Everything was clean and comfortable, and the staff were attentive and friendly, always ready to help. The location made it easy to get to nearby attractions and amenities. I had a really pleasant stay and would happily return. I’d recommend the Dolphin Inn.

We had a group of 10 and the staff managed our last-minute change from six people without any fuss. I called at lunchtime to book for 7.30 that evening, left a voicemail, and got a call back within 20 minutes confirming the table. When I rang again around 6.30 to increase the booking, they were fine with it despite the short notice. This was a meal at the Dolphin on 8 September 2025. The main dishes were excellent: steak cooked Rare as requested, a well-received burger, very well-cooked seabass and excellent linguine. The starters were good too, and if you’re in a group and happy to share, try some of the 'nibbles' menu. Beers and food were good, and the service was great. Highly recommended.
