The old building is amazing, and some rooms have really cool original features and great views. The hotel has a lot going for it, though some rooms have no view, the main toilets weren’t very clean, and the lifts aren’t great, which you might expect in a place like this. The rooms are okay, but some bathrooms are in bad condition and some rooms feel run down. Don’t count on the heating or air conditioning working, and the windows don’t open. The service brought the rating down for me. Check-in was very slow, and the staff were slow enough that they should invest in self check-in. The managers weren’t helpful, and breakfast was very slow with only two staff for a hotel with over 180 rooms. Still, it’s a brilliant hotel and definitely worth a stay if you love old buildings.

The Royal Albert Dock view is worth paying a little more for, if you’re able. You can see the Mersey and the Liver Building in the distance. This has to be one of the best Premier Inns in the country. The Tobacco Warehouse history gives it real charm: the iron doors at the corridor entrances are still there, and the rooms have brick vaulted ceilings. It’s so much more characterful than the buildings Premier Inn usually occupies. Highly recommended.

The staff were helpful and understanding, and it wasn’t their fault, but the stay was one of my worst at a Premier Inn. I paid extra for a view, but the windows were so dirty I could hardly see out. For the first two of our three nights, the heating wouldn’t come on when we got back, so I had to go to reception to get it sorted. The room felt tired and badly needed updating. The TV was tiny and must have been at least 20 years old, the bathroom door wouldn’t close properly, and the lighting was so poor I had to use my phone torch. It just wasn’t good enough. Since COVID, the standards seem to have gone downhill while prices have shot up. We used to stay at Premier Inn because it was good value, but not anymore.

Faye made the restaurant experience memorable. She knew the menu well, gave thoughtful recommendations, and made each meal smooth and enjoyable. Her warmth, professionalism, attention to detail and genuine care for guests stood out, and she seemed to anticipate what we needed. It’s rare to meet someone who delivers such outstanding customer service. Faye is a real credit to the hotel. The facilities were immaculate, the atmosphere welcoming and the service attentive throughout my recent stay. I was impressed by the experience and would highly recommend the hotel for both its accommodation and remarkable restaurant service.

The breakfast was really good, with the usual good range of Premier Inn options. The room and bed were super comfy, and the building and location have so much beauty and potential. But the hotel lets itself down badly. The windows were caked in dirt, so I couldn’t even see the docks. The bathroom smelled and was grimy, and there were two bugs in there despite me never opening the window. The walls were paper-thin, and the room was partitioned, so I could hear the person next door laughing nonstop at what must have been the funniest show in the world. Also, the smoking by the front door is crazy, since the cigarette bin is right there. People can do what they want, but smoking beside the entrance makes for a poor experience when guests walk through.
