Liverpool Trivelles

The receptionist was friendly and helpful, and I’m glad the bedding was clean, or we would have left. The building looked worn down and the surrounding area run-down. Once inside, there was a horrible smell on the stairs, possibly from the pile of rubbish bags next door. The basic rooms weren’t very clean, with dirt on the walls, radiators and bathroom floors. It all looks cheaply done and is now falling apart, as the photos show. WiFi was hard to get on the top floor, and the shower only worked well if you timed it right; otherwise there might be no water. It may have been nice when it first opened, but not now. As others have said, it doesn’t feel very safe to be outside in the evening, so taxis are better than walking. I definitely won’t stay here again.

The area felt scruffy and unpleasant, and the whole place smelled awful, almost like it was filled with chloroform. Dust covered every appliance in the dirty room, and there was hair in the bathroom. Street noise was unbearable. At night, I felt as if the owner was stalking me right outside my room door. There was nothing nearby to see, no bars, restaurants or attractions. It felt disgraceful and shouldn’t be a hotel. The stairs were so steep that a fall after one drink too many could leave you with broken bones. I felt it was risky to go outside after 8pm, so if you do go out, call a taxi and wait inside until it arrives.

The staff were welcoming, though not very professional, and there’s a bus stop right outside. The room was tiny, with about a foot of space around the bed, although the bathroom was decent. It’s near the centre, but the area is unattractive and noisy. I booked because it was very affordable, and it could be worth it for a cheap one-night stay.

The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the price was low, but I still wish I’d booked somewhere else. It looked good in the photos and was alright for what we paid, yet the heat built up badly, especially after a shower. The room ventilation seemed poor, and the bathroom often smelled damp or of smoke. The area outside didn’t feel safe, so I was uneasy leaving my car on the street despite the hotel saying CCTV kept vehicles secure. Finding the place was difficult too, and I had to get out and look for a small sign above the entrance. A city centre chain would have been worth paying a little more for.
