Check-in was easy and friendly, and I slept well with no noise or other issues. The room was clean and functional, though worn in places and in need of a touch-up. I paid extra for a countryside view, but the only view I got was the road. I’d expected a second-floor room for the best view. I’d stay again, but might skip the extra charge next time. 😂

A fresh, clean place that makes a good base for driving around mid Wales. There are three food or coffee options within walking distance, and the room has a great TV with a very sharp picture. The staff were helpful. I’ll come back if I need a stopover.

The young woman serving breakfast the next morning was welcoming and really helpful. She could teach the older woman at reception a thing or two about manners. When we arrived at 2:45, we were told check-in started at 3 and that we’d have to wait, even though we were only 15 minutes early. We didn’t think that would be a problem on a Monday, though we’d have understood on a weekend. We asked for taxi numbers and were directed to a board, but none of the numbers worked, so we had to walk into town. We were finally checked in at five to three, but the receptionist was off-putting and unwelcoming. Our room was freezing, even though reception was lovely and warm. The heating switched on but didn’t warm the room, and we were cold all night. After walking back from town, we hoped to have a nightcap in the pub attached to the hotel, but it was closed when we got there at 9:40 pm. We ended up having an early night whether we wanted to or not. We won’t be rushing back.

Premier Inn is dependable: clean, tidy and quiet rooms, friendly staff, parking, lifts, and food next door. Our room looked out at the mountain, and it was fun watching people in the car park too. Our kids’ room was on the other side and faced the police station. They watched someone being escorted in to be booked into the lockup, though we’ve no idea what they’d done, so we played guessing games. I had work to do and mostly stayed in the room, but took breaks to people-watch through the window and wonder why everyone was in that big car park. We also ate breakfast and dinner at the restaurant next door, and both were always yummy with friendly service. The tap water tasted good too, so there was no need to buy bottled water.

The ground-floor accessible room was spacious, clean and very nice, and everyone else on the team was friendly and accommodating. Alison was especially lovely and went out of her way to help us. The room was comfortable, but our experience with Helen at reception was upsetting. My husband’s assistance dog goes everywhere with him because he relies on it, and we had called after booking to tell the hotel we were bringing the dog. Helen questioned me in a way that felt intrusive and completely out of line. I felt as though I was on trial, and found her intimidating, even hostile. She seemed unaware of how she was making us feel, and we felt on edge whenever we saw her afterwards. We came to relax, and we have never been treated this way or questioned about the dog at other places we’ve stayed, including other Premier Inns. I also noticed another woman in the same situation mention a hostile attitude about her assistance dog. We couldn’t travel without ours. Because of this, I very much doubt we’ll stay at this Premier Inn again. Everyone else was absolutely lovely, especially Alison.
