Inver Lodge Hotel

The room was clean and the mattresses were comfortable, and we enjoyed the friendly staff, tasty food, and great cocktails. A couple of policies caught me off guard as a world traveler: family members who aren't hotel guests can't come to your room, and the bar closes at 10.30pm.

Some of the staff were nice, but that was the only positive in an otherwise awful stay. The hotel felt stale, old, dusty, and badly outdated, and we were itching throughout our visit. On the first night, bed bugs in one of our three rooms were biting us. With nobody on staff awake to help in the middle of the night, we moved into another of our rooms and squeezed four adults onto two double beds. We weren't given a refund for that night or even an apology. The next day, the front desk guy told us to change rooms, which was the only solution they offered. I've stayed in 2 star hotels before, and this was one of the worst hotels of my life. It doesn't even deserve 1 star. Never stay here.

The views from the location were amazing, and we had a very good breakfast. Our room had been prepared to a high standard, and the staff were especially welcoming and polite. Probably the best hotel we stayed at while visiting Highlands. A superb experience.

We were staying at Iolaire Lodge further up the road from the hotel and had a wonderful dinner here on our first night. The food was exceptional, and so was the service.
