Holiday Inn Express London Royal Docks

The location was okay, and the area seemed to be undergoing revitalization. There's a bus stop right outside, and the tube is about a five-minute walk away, so getting around was easy. We'd happily stay again. The staff were wonderful and quick to respond. I noticed some mold in the shower and on the windowsill, and they immediately sent a cleaner and supervisor, then checked in later to make sure it was sorted. Breakfast tasted good, too. A few items had run out near the end of service, but they were replenished within minutes.

The room and bathroom were clean, and the large TV was a real plus. We had two single beds, but the mattresses weren't very comfortable. It felt like our heads were lower than our feet, too. The price for three nights with breakfast was very good. Breakfast itself was average and quite cheap. I'd go as early as possible, since it gets really busy by 9 and lots of food is gone, with a long wait for staff to refill it. I think the shower curtain should be replaced with a proper shower door.

The room was clean and nice, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was good, and the kids especially liked the pancake machine. We stayed overnight with the family for Monster Trucks at the O2. It's a great spot for that, with the cable car and trains nearby. The area is really nice and makes a good base for exploring. I didn't sleep very well, but that was just me, not the hotel.

The staff were really friendly, probably the best part of the hotel. The lobby seemed fine, and breakfast had a decent range of options, but the rooms need updating. The carpet was badly stained, there was rust on a lot of the bathroom metal, the toilet seat was stained, and the little couch looked worn. The mattress was very hard, and even the pillows marked “soft” felt quite firm. There was a sign saying feather pillows could be requested, which might have been better. The windows looked like they would let in lots of light, but behind the big curtains there was only a small window in the wall. The aircon kept switching itself off while I was in the room, so I couldn't keep the temperature steady while sleeping. There also seemed to be construction going on in the hotel. In the morning I could clearly hear hammering and other construction noise from the room above mine.
