The hotel was quiet, with no noise or disturbances, and the rooms were warm. We were glad to find a fan provided. The room was spotless and smelled clean. Our first room didn’t have bedside lamps, but the staff moved us to one that did when we asked. They were also friendly and helpful when we needed more milk and wanted to store our luggage after checkout. We chose the hotel for its excellent location, which suited our needs, and the price was good. A pleasant stay, and I’d return.
My room felt almost like a chalet, and it was warm and clean with a great shower. The reception was being renovated, but that didn’t bother me. I’d seen a few negative reviews and had no complaints myself. It’s a great price for a brilliant location, close to the city center and a lovely area for shopping and restaurants. The O2 Empire is only a five minute walk away.
The location is great, and the staff were kind enough to offer to carry our bags up all four flights of stairs. It’s a budget option, so think about how basic you’re willing to go. The temperature in our room swung between unbearably cold and too warm without settling. Linens and towels were very worn, with holes and stains, the furniture was dirty, and there were spots of black mold in several parts of the shower. We could hear much of what was happening in other rooms, and the wifi was almost unusably slow at times. There were no bed bugs in November 2025. They charged a non-refundable booking fee of 35 GBP that wasn’t mentioned anywhere. The hotel says it’s listed on the booking sites, but as of January 2026 there was no fee shown on Hotels.com. Even if you pay extra to make the booking refundable, they still take this cost. The hotel’s own website blocks traffic from the EU.
We had a very satisfying three night stay at the OYO abbey Hotel, and I’d happily return. Mr. Anwar was especially kind and always available. The room was cleaned daily without us even having to ask, which we really appreciated. The location is convenient too, just a short walk from the metro and bus stations.
We booked two nights. The first day was fine, but after a full day of travel we came back tired, expecting to relax, and were told our booking only covered one night because of a booking error. The person had checked our papers the day before and said nothing, and nobody called us. They just put our things in bags and said they’d booked us into another hotel. They told us it was a five minute walk, but it was actually 20 minutes away, and it was a really bad hotel on a bad street. We had a child with us, and that hotel was for ages 16 and up, so we left and booked somewhere else ourselves. The staff’s job is to accommodate guests for the dates they booked, and this hotel can’t guarantee that. I don’t recommend it. There are many better places, and I don’t understand why it has 3.8 stars here. It’s a 2.5 at most.
