Anchor Hotel

We found bedbugs in our clothes and had to throw them away. Then we had to search for somewhere else to stay late at night, which was stressful and inconvenient. The owner’s response to our concerns was simply, “You can cancel,” even though it was the middle of the night. I cancelled three days ago and still haven’t received a refund. The room looked nothing like the pictures on Booking.com. It had three beds in different sizes, all with extremely hard mattresses. It was the most disappointing trip I’ve ever had. They seem to care only about money, not standards. I took some pictures.

The room smelled strongly of damp and mould, and the bathroom handle was broken. It was a tiny, very basic converted garage in what felt more like a converted house than a hotel. The door seemed dodgy, though it could be locked from the outside, and we wanted to spend as little time in the room as possible. There are only a few parking spaces, but parking is included, which is cheap for London. The Tube is a convenient two-minute walk away.

The one good thing was how close the Tube was, just a minute away. Otherwise, I wouldn’t stay here again and would pay more somewhere else for better facilities. I was there from 17 November to 20 November 2025, and was meant to check out on the 21st. The bed had bugs, and I ended up with bites on my arms and legs. The ensuite was ridiculously small, with a washbasin like one for a little kid. The shower drain in my room was clogged with hair and other stuff, so water backed up and flooded the floor. It was so bad I had to get a refund for the remaining night.

The room was far more than a broken shower tray. The floor underneath was rotting and sinking toward the bathroom, and the damage continued across the toilet floor, where tiles were cracked. The cupboard below the sink was broken and its door fell onto my partner’s foot. The room was tiny, smelled of damp, and the walls and bedding were dirty. We’ll attach photos. When my partner first went to check in and ask about parking, the staff member was rude and asked for her passport. He took a photo of it, then showed her the room and said the shower tray was a bit broken but still okay to use. After she came to get me, we decided we couldn’t stay. We drove three hours home after the concert. When I returned the keys, I asked for a refund because the room was too disgusting to stay in. He gave me a number to call the next day. My partner called and was told the refund would be sent right away, but four hours later it still hadn’t arrived. When she called again, he blocked her. I called, and once he realized who I was, he hung up and blocked me too. I wouldn’t stay here.
