Ascot Hyde Park

The room was filthy, with black mould everywhere, a dirty TV and walls, a bathroom sink with no running water, and a TV that didn't work. I didn't get to the room until 8pm. Outside the window was an extremely loud generator that kept making noise all night and pumping smoke through the window, leaving an unbearable smell. They had covered the smoke alarms with plastic bags because of the smoke, which is a serious safety issue that could kill people in a fire. I complained to reception straight away and asked to be moved. The response was, 'well what do you want me to do about it at this time'. They refused, saying the hotel was full and nothing could be done. They seemed not to care at all. I didn't sleep a wink. This place wants shutting down.

For the price, I can't complain too much, but the building and carpets are tired. The bed was clean and comfortable. The curtains in room 506 could do with some attention.

My friend and I tried to stay for one night on 11/11, but the room wasn't clean. The TV and walls were filthy, the bathroom light was hanging off, and the sheets had dirty stains. Later that night we started itching badly from head to toe. I rolled over and saw a bug in the bed, then we found more that looked like bedbugs. We looked up the hotel and found several other reviews describing the same problems, so it didn't seem like a one-off. We packed up, checked out, and left London at 11pm, driving three hours home. The man at reception said nothing like this had happened before and told us to go through booking.com for a refund, but that clearly wasn't true based on the other reviews. We do want our money back, since we didn't even stay the night. Booking.com said we couldn't get a full refund because the owners couldn't find any bedbugs. Of course they'd say that. We have photo evidence. This place should be shut down.

After using the hotel, I had a severe reaction to pesticides that had apparently been used earlier for bedbugs. I ended up in A&E three times, couldn't work, and my doctor advised me to change hotels. That cost me another 400£. Management lied, saying they'd lost the chance to resell my room and that I checked out at a later date so they could charge the full amount. They gave no sincere apology and took no responsibility. Instead, another pesticide machine was put back in the room, leaving more toxic products behind while trying to kill more bedbugs. Seeing the previous reviews, I now know others suffered there too. Don't book after reading them. I'll be taking this to small claims court, and I advise others to do the same.
