Astor Museum Inn Hostel

I had a great five-night stay and made some good friends through the group activities. It was my first hostel, and even as a big germaphobe I managed just fine. The central location was lovely, and the staff were super friendly. Anthony even took a group of us to a pub. The hostel was quite clean and people were respectful. My roommates and I were considerate about noise and kept similar sleep schedules, so the storage baskets being a little noisy didn't bother me. The showers have two wall hooks but no shelf, basket, or ledge, so bring a bag for your toiletries. I'd definitely recommend it.

Laundry was the biggest problem for me. There are only two washer-dryers, so getting a load in felt like a competition, and some guests left clothes in the dryer for hours. The machines are in a hallway behind a door that gets in the way of people going to and from the kitchen. I'd suggest doing laundry somewhere else. I included a photo for reference, since I couldn't find one on the website. The Wi-Fi was patchy and used up a lot of my mobile data, and the power sockets by my bed didn't work. There's no lift, so be ready to carry a large bag up several flights if you get a top-floor room. I stayed four nights in a four-bed female dorm. It's not the nicest hostel I've been in, but it gave me a clean bed and the basin with a soap dispenser in the room was handy when the communal sinks were busy. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bathrooms were reasonably clean, though the shower curtains felt unhygienic. Detergent pods cost £1 at reception. It's suitable for a short stay, with good transport access.

The kitchen and lounge were a nice bonus, and free luggage storage was great. The rates were very affordable and the location couldn't be better. The staff were the loveliest and most welcoming I've come across. Big thanks to Aitor and Collin for being so helpful throughout. I'd definitely stay again.

It's a good-value hostel, as long as you don't expect anything fancy. The location is great, the staff are super friendly, and it was usually pretty clean. Thanks to Aitor for getting me an early check-in. The Wi-Fi never worked. They could also add somewhere in the showers to put your clothes or sit while changing.
