Britannia Inn

I was in London for work meetings and found this a comfortable place to stay. The room and bed were both good, and the price was reasonable, which I appreciated. My room had a fridge, and it was quiet enough for me to sleep really well. There were three Wi-Fi connections, which worked well for remote work. The hotel is also well connected to the Metro. I'd definitely come back.

I paid for a six-night stay through Agoda.com, with breakfast included in the booking, and was very disappointed when I arrived. The room was described as 20 m², but it seemed only about 2 metres wide and 3.5 metres long. The bathroom door nearly touched the toilet, and moving around the room was difficult. There was no breakfast service included. Breakfast cost extra, and it wasn't good. Daily cleaning was the one positive. The hotel is also about a 15-minute walk from the Metro. I visit London often, but I won't stay here again.

The room was freezing when we got there in December. The radiator was off, and it took three or four hours for the room to warm up enough for me to sleep. The hygiene was poor too. Opening the door brought a heavy, unpleasant smell straight at us. Before arriving, I'd spoken with the hotel, but only then did we learn it was several houses joined together with rooms, rather than a proper hotel. We were told to pay a deposit. Paying by card meant waiting four or five working days for it to be returned, which I wasn't willing to do, so I had to waste time finding an ATM to take out cash. They said the cash would be returned the next morning. I don't recommend staying here. You can get much better conditions for your money.

We booked three rooms and were told they would connect, but at check-in we found out they were in three separate buildings. One room smelled so strongly of poo that, after a lot of discussion, they agreed to move us. Another guest said his room had also been changed after he found faeces in his bin. I couldn't help wondering if that was the room we were given. We had arranged a late checkout for 12pm instead of 11am, but housekeeping was already hassling us at 11. The manager said he didn't know about the agreement. I paid £20 to keep one of the rooms until 1pm, which we needed because we were in London for a wedding. My family and I have never stayed somewhere worse. It was below even budget hotel standards, and there were no fans in the rooms during our summer stay. I wouldn't recommend it. Avoid it if you can.
