City View Hotel Roman Road Market

The room and lobby had insects and bugs, and the whole place felt unsafe and unwelcoming. During our one-night stay we heard so many arguments. The wallpaper was peeling, the carpet had black stains all over it, and the kitchen had nothing in it. Cupboard doors were off their hinges and left to one side. When we arrived, the receptionist was arguing with a customer. It felt more like a crack house than a hotel. The website said parking was available, but there was none, so I had to park two miles away. A joke of a hotel. Stay away at all costs.

You can see a children’s primary school through the hotel window, including the kids playing outside. It’s a one-star hotel where literally anyone will stay.

The rooms are very tidy, but the beds and bathrooms are tiny. The front desk wasn’t customer friendly. This might suit solo travelers or backpackers who only need somewhere to sleep and bathe for a night or two before moving on. I gave it two stars because the ground-floor rooms are wheelchair accessible, but the baths and toilets aren’t.

I stayed two weeks, and the police were called at least twice. There’s something very dodgy about this place. The staff partied all night with friends, and when I came out of my room I found them slumped in chairs and lying on the couch by the door. Guests smoke in their rooms, and the room smoke alarms aren’t even installed properly. Also, there is no breakfast. Avoid this hotel unless you’re looking for a spot to do something dodgy.
