I didn't sleep for two days, and I absolutely wouldn't stay here again. The rooms were really hot, 27 degrees in March, and even with the thermostat turned down, the system apparently just blows hot air. Noise and light were a problem too: the soundproofing is poor, St Pauls cathedral bells ring through the night, and bright hall lights shine under the door. The hotel itself is fine, and the staff are friendly and helpful. A complimentary bottle of water would be nice, since London's tap water isn't great.
Oscar served us brilliantly at breakfast takeaway, calm and capable, and the pastries at reception were great. We also appreciated the free water bottles and water machine. The lounge was pleasant and quiet, though it felt more like a workspace than a bar. The hotel is right by St Paul’s, a great central location for the price. Our first night was quiet, but on the second, loud live music from the venue across the courtyard kept us awake until nearly midnight. One side of the double bed also had nowhere to plug in or charge a phone, which was a hassle. We probably won't stay here again.
It's my second stay, and I've had a fantastic experience both times. The staff are very, very nice, and the rooms are beautifully decorated. The bathroom was fine, and I really like the first-floor café and lounge. My only complaint is that the A/C only worked in heating mode.
I was here for a conference and had a great stay. The big win was the location, with lots of public transport nearby. Getting here from Heathrow and then leaving London via St pancras was easy, and there are plenty of restaurants close by. Self check-in and checkout were easy, although the lovely staff helped me anyway. I was alone, so the small standard room was no problem. There's a little café in the entrance, but no hair dryer or mini fridge, so plan for that.
The location is brilliant, the rooms are well furnished and fairly spacious, and the staff are friendly. Still, I wouldn't return. I like a cool room to sleep in, but when it's cold outside the building apparently disables the A/C cooling. It was 15 degrees outdoors and the system only blew hot air, leaving my room at 29.5 degrees. Even opening the windows didn't make it possible to sleep, and the only workaround is asking reception to come unlock them, then shut them again. Staff were apologetic but said it was a building design flaw they couldn't fix. Not relaxing at all, and I'd avoid this place if you don't want a sauna.
