The Elysee Hotel was perfect for us, and I'd definitely stay again. We wanted separate rooms instead of having some of us on sofa beds in an air BNB, and we got four single rooms and a twin at a very reasonable price. Three rooms were upgraded, which we really appreciated. The singles are small even by London standards, but I can't fault them. They had everything we needed, including air con, a hairdryer, tea and coffee facilities, a TV, and a private bathroom. The rooms were clean. Dilip and Katerina were fantastic, friendly, and helpful throughout. We arrived three hours early, but they let us leave our cases in the rooms that were already ready. There is also a storage area by reception, which we used at the end of our stay. The location is amazing, with everything we wanted within a three minute walk. Lancaster Gate tube station is also about three minutes away, and the red Central line goes to Stratford, handy for our Abba Voyage concert. From Stratford, double back on the main staircase, turn left for the DLR, then get off one stop later at Pudding Mill Lane, right outside the Abba Arena. We couldn't fit all six of us into either of the two nearby cafes because they were busy and didn't take bookings, so we went to the Mitre pub directly across the road instead. Both breakfasts there were lovely, and there was plenty of space. It was busy with a great atmosphere in the evenings too. There are several restaurants on the same road, including an Italian we visited and can highly recommend, plus a Chinese and maybe others. I didn't check out all the shops. There's also a Nisa up the road for reasonably priced drinks and snacks.

I was very happy with the price and what I got. The staff were polite, kind, and helpful, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Elysee Hyde Park is in a perfect spot, about seven minutes on foot from Oxford Street and two minutes from Hyde Park and Kensington Park. Buses and the underground make it easy to get around everywhere.

The location is excellent, very central, and close to almost everything a tourist might need. The rooms are on the small side, but we knew that in advance, so it wasn't an issue. Staff were extremely kind, friendly, cooperative, and always ready to help. Gawin helped with our luggage when the car arrived to take us to the airport, which we really appreciated. The two blonde female receptionists were very kind, and one of them was always playing with my child. The older gentleman at reception was professional, respectful, and pleasant. We had a very pleasant stay and I'd definitely recommend Elysee Hotel.

The location is the only thing I'd recommend. The bed linens and towels looked clean but had stains, and the carpet clearly hadn't been vacuumed properly, with visible debris on the floor. Water also pooled in the sink because it drained poorly. The worst problem was the heating. The radiators were switched off during some nighttime hours, and the air conditioning couldn't warm the room enough. It became very uncomfortable. This was the worst hotel experience I've had.

From the hotel, Hyde Park was only a short walk away, and the rest of the city felt easy to explore. I stayed there in 1996, when they were repainting the place, so you could still smell the fresh paint, in a good way. The lift was tiny, and I used the open back stairs/fire escape to smoke while the work was going on. The rooms were small, but it was just somewhere to sleep. The basic continental breakfast could hopefully be gone by now, though I wasn't bothered by it either. Thanks for everything. Glad the place is still there. Good times.
