Euston Square Hotel

The area left us uneasy, with rubbish around and people living in tents along the street. That added to a very poor impression of London. Inside, the public toilets were dirty and smelled unpleasant, and the reception staff didn’t make us feel welcome. We’d asked for our two rooms to be next to each other and had been told that would be arranged. Instead, arriving late at night, we found one room on the third floor and the other in the basement. The rooms were much smaller than expected, with low ceilings, small beds and an unpleasant smell. Our stay was a real disappointment, and I’d strongly advise against this hotel.

The team were friendly enough, and for a one-night stay the bed and bathroom were reasonably clean. The room itself was fine for that short visit, and it was about what I expected for the price. But there were long, coarse black hairs all over the floor. I know hair can fall out, but the floor should still get vacuumed after cleaning and changing the bed. It makes me wonder why it wasn’t done, and I wouldn’t stay again.

The staff, from reception through housekeeping, were really friendly and helpful. That hospitality made a good impression. The location is super convenient, right above Euston Square underground. Warren Street and Kings Cross Station are a few minutes away on foot, and if you don’t mind walking, you can get to Tottenheim street too.

I’m doubtful I’d book here again. The single lift wasn’t working properly, so I had to walk up to the third floor and back. My colleague and I also both found our double rooms small, and reception itself was tiny. There was confusion over my booking as well. They first said they hadn’t received payment, even though I booked through my organisation’s agent and that’s never been a problem before. The receptionist was mistaken. They also said breakfast wasn’t included, although it was clearly listed on my confirmed booking.
